Faribault Bowling Observer: Take Ownership

What if I told you that you could be a member of a club without ever having to pay membership dues or be forced to volunteer in club sponsored initiatives.  You have that in Faribault as a bowler. We know that the pandemic has given small business obstacles that have never been experienced in our lifetime. We have that currently with Bashers. It's no secret that the current economic situation is making it tough to keep the business going. Most of us only have so much discretionary spending money so it's not like we can invest $100,000 to help out.  But if we can adopt the mentality that we (the bowlers of Faribault) are a club, it can go a long way to help. If you're looking for a place to go to after work for a few beers, make it Bashers. If you don't want to cook tonight, instead of going to a chain restaurant, support your club by coming out to Bashers to have dinner. There are great nightly deals and I can attest the breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays is superb. If the kids are bored, take them to the bowling alley and throw a few games. If your business is looking for a place to hold their Holiday party, put a bug in their ear about making it a bowling party. Doing small things like I have mentioned can help keep a bowling alley in Faribault. There is too much bowling tradition in this town, it's up to us to keep it going for the next generation.

Notes:

The Toys For Tots Tournament was held at Bashers/Faribowl on Saturday Afternoon. A full house of over 100 bowlers participated in a Scotch Doubles Tournament and raised over $1500 to help families less fortunate this Holiday Season.

Does anyone remember how the 3-6-9 jackpot was ran back in the days of Johnson's Fair Bowl? Obviously you had to strike in the 3rd, 6th and 9th frames to win. But how much was charged to be in it and how much was paid out. Plus I remember there was a monthly 3-6-9 tournament. I'd like to see this revived.

A conversation I have had among bowlers lately is, who would be on your Faribault Mt. Rushmore of bowling. There were so many names mentioned. Plus there are those that bowled in the 1950's and 1960's that I'd like to know more about.

Don't forget about the upcoming Christmas event at Bashers Faribowl. It will be a day long event so bring the kids out during the day and then the adults will take center stage that night as the ugly Christmas Sweaters will be on display for Moonlight Bowling.
