Faribault Bowling Observer- Check the video

There has been so many technological advances in bowling that have led to higher scores and dare I say, made the game easier. Yet there are so many things mechanically with the bowler's body that can wreak havoc with a bowler. We see it in baseball where batters go into slumps for something as simple as dropping a shoulder too early. Pitchers have been known to have trouble locating their pitches by something as simple as their motion, follow through and their release.

As someone that is taller and has lots of moving parts when bowling (remember the control troubles 6 foot 10 inch Randy Johnson had when he first made it into Major League Baseball), I've had trouble with my release, timing and mechanics. Point here to circle back to my original point, is that unlike the old days of video where you'd have to lug a camera, everyone has a video recording device on their phone. So on Thursday I bowled and recorded myself, and may have found some flaws. Word to the wise. Take the ketchup and mustard caddy, put it by the table closest to the approach, and position it accordingly. The phone fits nicely where the menus go in the caddy, especially if you have a thicker protective case. So yet, another technological advance that bowlers didn't have back in the day (or back when I recorded my brother's demolition derbies, by lugging a camera on my shoulder).

NOTES:

I just got information tonight on the annual St. Patrick's Day no tap tournament. Be sure to grab a partner and sign up early, it should be a fun one.

And of course it wouldn't be Bashers if they didn't have some delicious weekly specials. This week doesn't disappoint.
This week's video comes from a different version of bowling that I wasn't aware of until recently. Boy, I get frustrated enough trying to control a 15 pound ball to knock down 10 pins. Imagine trying to knock down narrow pins with a church league softball sized ball. Well, that is called Candlepin bowling. Only cool thing is that knocked down pins from previous balls can be used to help knock pins down on any subsequent ball.
Enjoy.

Until next time, good luck and good shooting.
