Faribault Bowling Observer- I'm Seeing Stars

First of all, Happy New Year. I hope you all spent New Year's Eve doing something you enjoy, and I wish you all the best for a happy, healthy and successful 2023. As one can do on occasion, my mind wandered this week and out of it I have come up with an idea.

Doing these weekly recaps as a writer, it can be difficult at times to keep the recaps looking fresh. There is only so many descriptive words to describe bowling. Bowling, rolling, shooting, throwing, it can all become a bit repetitive and a bit boring to the reader.

For those that read my Faribault Lakers recaps, the one thing that I do that I do not see anywhere else when it comes to recaps is the three stars of the game. It takes some thought and I'll watch games specifically looking for the three stars. Well, I'm going to bring that to my bowling recaps and I'll try to stay on top of who gets the most three star selections. The only exceptions are Tuesday Coffee League because there are only 12 bowlers total (there will instead be a league wide three stars , and there will be none awarded to teams bowling against a blind.

So with no further ado, let's get into the recaps.

Notes:

New Year's Eve was a smashing success at Basher's. I made it back from a hockey trip to Mason City by Midnight to enjoy the fesitivities. I thought there should've been a dropping of a bowling ball at midnight. I was told there was an earlier shift in the night where all the lanes were filled up. I drove by Carbone's and Elk's  on the way to Bashers and Bashers had the most cars in the parking lot. It was nice to see and hopefully a sign of good things to come in 2023.

We now get into the dead of Winter. As a kid I remember the weather being so cold that we wanted nothing to with being outside. Dad had control of the TV so we were at the mercy of what he wanted to watch. After the onslaught of fishing shows on Saturday afternoon, Roland Martin, Virgil Ward etc., we'd settle in to watch the Pro Bowlers Tour on ABC. One of the more intriguing matchups would be when the methodical Mark Roth would match up with the fiery Marshall Holman. Enjoy this clip as we go back to 1979.
