Faribault Bowling Observer- What I did on my week off.

Remember in grade school, the first paper you'd have to write when you came back to school was, "What I did last Summer". This could go several ways. If you had the Summer of a childhood, you'd have a ton to recap, but the negative being that you'd have to write the longest paper. You could leave out details and the story could get to notable shorter length. You could write your paper, look at it afterwards and think, "I didn't do S**t this Summer. You find yourself adding words on to the paper just to try to get it to the minimum. "It was very, very, very, very, very, fun". In my case I was usually scrambling for words as growing up, a big trip would be considered going all the up to Burnsvile.

Last week, there were no leagues due in large part to a gut punch from Mother Nature. Lest I remind you all that it's not the worst thing to extend the season by a week. Last year my league ended on time and the next two Wednesdays it snowed, so it wasn't like it was time to move on to Summer.

So I decided to recap some of the things I did to make the bowling free week go by as fast as it could.  Details may be either exaggerated or completely made up. (I can't wait for Wednesday, Snake Farm will be playing loud and proud at Faribowl on Wednesday night).

1. We attempted to do Living Room bowling, complete with putting on our bowling shoes. I dragged and dusted off an old softball and dug into the recycling bin for 10 water or soda bottles for pins. It went well until we remembered we train our little Yoshi to chew up "Ba-ba's". A guy could only scour for so many pins/bottles while Yoshi was having the time of his life.

2. We watched the Pro Bowler's Tour on TV and played cards by playing through a bowler. This lasted a game or two before boredom set in (kind of like this blog so far).

3. We taped finger and thumb holes on our snow shovels in order to work on mechanics while shoveling snow. The other option was to pick up large chunks of snow and throw them two handed into the snow bank.

4. We went to a different bar and try getting drinks from using our chips from Evan Knutson Weichert  Realtors.

5.We tried to clear snow from our driveway by getting a blade, attaching bowling balls at both ends and rolled it down our driveway, that didn't get over so well either.

6. We played how many words can you make out of the letters from "Who do you think you are, I am"

7. Snuck into the bowling alley and check to make sure those intruding Southern Manitoban Muskrats didn't do any other damage to Faribowl. I hear when they break into bowling alleys, they leave sticky feces that cause 7 or 10 pins to remain standing. At least that's going to be my excuse the rest of the season.

8. Got the Karaoke Machine out and did some Smashing Pumpkins so that we can sing along with Don next time we have Moonlight Bowling.

9. Went to the Minnesota Wild game on Sunday. Kirill Kaprizov had a natural hat trick, three straight goals. Kind of like how three strikes in a row is a turkey. Being in bowling deprivation mode, as Kaprizov scored the winning goal in overtime, hats were flying on the ice and I stood there, flapping my arms going "gobble gobble".
